Description

This is a 40 lb bag of glass pool filter media. Made from 100% recycled materials, Brightline is the perfect glass media for your pool filter.

Improve water clarity by up to 25%. Glass filter media can filter down to 5 microns, unlike traditional sand- which only filteres down to 30.

Furthermore, you only need to use 20% less media by weight! For example, if your filter calls for 100 lbs of sand, you would only need to use 80 lbs of glass media

Why choose glass over sand for your pool filter?
  • Improved Clarity: The primary reason that we recommend our customers to 'switch to glass' is for clarity purposes. Your standard No. 20 Silica Sand only filters down to around 20 - 40 microns. Glass filter media, on the other hand, filters down to 5-10 microns- making your pool filter around 30% more effective.
  • Less Frequent Maintenance: In addition to improved clarity, glass is known to last a good bit longer than traditional sand. Whereas sand should be replaced every 3 - 5 years, glass pool filter media extends that timeframe to 5 - 8 years. Please note however that this ultimately depends on the amount of debris that goes through your filter.

Directions & Dosage- Brightline Glass Filter Media

Brightline Glass Media is a high-performance pool filter media designed to replace traditional #20 silica sand in your sand filter. One of the main benefits is that it can significantly improve clarity by filtering down to 5-10 microns, whereas sand is only around 20-40.

When using Brightline Glass Media, follow the same setup process as you would with sand. If your filter calls for pea gravel as a base layer, you should still use it to prevent channeling and ensure optimal filtration performance.

How much glass do I need for my pool filter?

Answer: The short version is that you'll need 20% less media, but the same number of bags. For example, if your filter calls for 200 lbs of sand (4 bags), then that would be 160 lbs of glass (also 4 bags).

Is glass actually better than sand?

Answer: Traditional pool filter sand (no. 20 silica) only filters down to around 30 microns. Glass media, on the other hand, filters down to around 5-10 microns- a 30% improvement in clarity.
