Preparation Steps

Routine Maintenance

• With the pump running, distribute 1 lb. of BioGuard Smart Shock evenly around the edges of the pool for every 12,000 gallons of water.
• Brush away any undissolved particles from pool surfaces.
• Wait a minimum of 15 minutes before re-entering the pool.
• Keep the pump and filter running continuously for 48 hours after application.
• For best results, include BioGuard Smart Shock in your weekly pool care routine.

If Algae is Present

• Remove debris such as leaves from the pool using a vacuum.
• Thoroughly brush all visible algae off pool surfaces with a surface-safe pool brush.
• Apply 1 lb. of BioGuard Smart Shock per 12,000 gallons of water, focusing on areas with heavy algae growth.
• Operate the pump and filter continuously for 24 hours after treatment.
• Re-brush pool surfaces after the treatment period.
• Before swimming, ensure the free chlorine level is between 1-4 ppm.
• Repeat the process if necessary to eliminate persistent algae.
