Before You Begin:

1. Equipment Check: Ensure all pool equipment is operational. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to clean or backwash the filter.
2. Adjust pH: Set the pool water pH between 7.2 and 7.6 for optimal chemical efficiency and swimmer comfort.
3. Stabilizer Addition: For chlorinated pools, add a stabilizer to achieve a stabilizer level of 30-40 ppm to protect chlorine from the degradative effects of sunlight.
4. Using Additional Products: If using other products alongside BioGuard SilkGuard Complete, adhere strictly to the instructions on those product labels to avoid negative interactions.

Safety Precautions:

• Chemical Interaction Caution: Do not add other chemicals into the skimmer, feeder, or floater while using this product, as this can cause dangerous reactions such as fire or explosion.
• Avoid Direct Contact: Prevent the product from coming into direct contact with the pool surface or materials to avoid potential damage.
• Proper Placement: Never throw tablets directly into the pool; always use a feeder or floater.

Start-Up/Initial Treatment:

1. Address Cloudy or Green Water: If the pool water is cloudy or green, super chlorinate using an appropriate shock product until clarity is restored.
2. Initial Product Application: Add 16 ounces of BioGuard SilkGuard Complete (approximately 2 tablets) per 10,000 gallons of water to your feeder or floater.
3. Set the Feeder/Floater: Adjust your feeder or floater as per the manufacturer's guidelines to achieve and maintain a free available chlorine level of 1-4 ppm.
4. Circulation and Testing: Allow the water to circulate for at least 4 hours before testing the free available chlorine level. Once the level is stabilized within 1-4 ppm, add the preventative algaecide suited to your pool’s needs.

Routine Maintenance:

• Regular Addition: To maintain water quality, add 16 ounces of BioGuard SilkGuard Complete (approximately 2 tablets) per 10,000 gallons each week, or as needed, to the floater or feeder.
• Monitoring Chlorine Levels: The rate of chlorine loss can vary due to factors like sunlight exposure, rainfall, temperature, swimmer load, and pool usage frequency. Regularly check and refill your feeder or floater to maintain the chlorine level between 1-4 ppm.
• Re-Entry Caution: Ensure the free available chlorine level is not above 4 ppm before swimming. High chlorine levels can pose a risk of bodily injury.

By following these guidelines, you will effectively manage your pool’s cleanliness and safety, ensuring a pleasant and secure swimming environment for all users.
